Love Stories: Ritual for Internal Purging, 2022
Love stories is a series of six oil on paper drawings, based on portraits of selected people I’ve known over the years. The drawing themselves are a dedication to them; their image shares space with a story, poem, or words they never got to hear.
These drawings were physically transformed to symbolically purge them from me during a full moon, as a farewell or closure:
Drawings were covered with my blood and teared apart. Their final form during the transformation for each drawing was reciprocal to my relationship with these people. The objects become vessels of my love for them.
The transformed objects were displayed and hung around projections of each drawing’s layers.
